Materials, the Run and put-away
Materials, the Run and put-away
Work your material queue, order parts for a workcenter, follow the Run, and put containers away to the slot the app suggests.
Materials on the phone works with your company's Shop Floor material requests: the pools, requests and tasks set up on the web under Material requests. Pick your plant on Me first.
Your material queue
Open the Materials tile on Home. The top shows whether you are Checked in and to which zone, with three buttons: My run, Order parts and Put away.
Check in
- Under My pools, tick the pools you are working today. If you belong to only one, it is ticked for you.
- If your pools have zones, pick your Zone, or leave Any zone.
- Tap Check in. Check out takes you out of every pool at the end of your shift.
If you are in no pool, it says You are not in a material pool. Ask your admin.
Claim a task
My queue lists your claimed tasks first, then open tasks for your pools, ordered by your zone, priority and age. Each shows its code, Pick or Deliver, an Urgent chip if urgent, and where from and to. Tap Claim to take a task and open it, or Open for one you already have.
Picking
- The task shows each part with how many are picked of how many ordered, and Scan a container at {location}.
- Scan each container. Plex is checked for the part: a container of a part not on the task is refused.
- If a container holds more than the line still needs, only what is needed is taken. It is split off into its own container when you complete the pick, and the rest stays in the original container.
- When every line is full, tap Complete. If you are short, the app asks Complete short?: tap Keep picking or Complete short.
Completing a pick releases its delivery. Where your company writes material moves to Plex, completing builds a master unit from what you picked.
Delivering
The task says Scan {to} to deliver. Scan the workcenter or location label. The right label completes the delivery; any other says {value} is not {to}. Where your company writes material moves to Plex, the master unit or containers move to the workcenter's line-side location.
Handing a task back
Tap Hand back to return a task to the queue with its history. Choose Anyone in the pool, People only or Vehicles, then Hand back. Only the person who claimed it, a Material Admin or Maintenance can hand a task back.
Order parts
- Tap Order parts.
- Choose the Workcenter.
- Pick a Part number from Plex (or type it) and the Qty. + Add a part adds another line.
- Choose Urgent, Normal or Low, add a note if needed, and tap Send request.
The request goes to the pools that fulfil it. Open requests lists the site's requests that are still open.
The Run
The Run plans one walk for you. Open it from the Directed work tile, My run on Materials, or the next stop on My work.
What is on it
- Your material tasks: a pick where the parts are, and a delivery where they go.
- Containers waiting at staging locations that need a storage home.
The walk goes put-aways on the way out, picks on the way back, then deliveries, and urgent stops lead each of those. Why these stops explains where the stops came from. In a zone your company runs as push, the Run shows only work assigned to you.
Working it
The next stop shows in large type with what to do and why, for example Go to 12A1 and scan a container. The rest of the walk is listed below.
- Pick: scan the containers. The pick completes by itself once every line is full.
- Deliver: scan the location to complete the delivery.
- Put-away: scan the container named on the stop. The app shows up to three slots under Take it to, each with Why here. Scan one of them to move the container there in Plex.
The Run refreshes every 30 seconds. When urgent work is added, a red alert shows Urgent work added to your run with the refused sound; tap Got it. With nothing to do it says Nothing on your run. Check in on Materials to get work.
Put away a cart
Use Put away on Materials to put away a load you have built yourself.
- Build the load: scan each container or master unit on your cart. Each shows the slot it goes to and why. Tap × to take one off. The cart is kept on the phone if you leave the screen.
- Tap Put away {count}.
- Walk: the app takes you stop by stop in walk order, Stop 1 of 5, with the slot in large type. Scan the slot when you are there. All the containers of a master unit move together.
- When everything is placed it shows Load put away. Tap Build another load.
How slots are chosen
The app suggests only active storage slots with room, never the one the container is already in.
- If your company has set a home zone for the part, the nearest slot with room in that zone comes first: zone B for this part, nearest with room.
- Otherwise it prefers where the part already sits: no home set for 2020-100; it already sits here.
- Otherwise, the nearest slot with room.
If no slot has room, it says no storage slot has room for {part}; ask your Mobile Admin to add slots.
Each put-away move goes to Plex as you, and DataMagik reads the container back to confirm where it is. There is no Undo on put-away; scan the right slot to move it again.
