Inventory
Inventory
Look up, move, load, split, merge and pack containers, count a location, reprint a label and find where a part is.
Open the Inventory tile on Home. It shows a tile for each task, and Recent on this device lists your last 10 container changes with their state: waiting, sending, in Plex, refused or not sent.
Before you start: pick your plant on Me. Inventory needs DataMagik Mobile - Inventory, which every default floor role except Guard includes. Moves, splits, merges, holds, releases and scrap are written to Plex as your Plex user where your admin has mapped it; DataMagik records your name on every change. Receipts, working offline and Undo are explained in Scanning, receipts and Undo.
Look up
Scan a container to see its serial, part and quantity, location (or No location (loaded or shipped)), status and operation, read straight from Plex. A hold status shows in red. Buttons open Move / load, Split, Quality and Reprint label with the container already filled in. Label reprints lists each reprint with its reason and printer.
Move / load
A location moves them; a workcenter loads them.
- Scan one or more containers. Each shows where it is now. Tap ✕ to take one off the list.
- Scan a location or lane to move them all there, or scan a workcenter to load them all to it.
The change goes to Plex at once. For 10 seconds, Undo moves each container back to where it was, or unloads it from the workcenter. A container on hold can be moved, for example to a quarantine area, but not loaded to a workcenter.
Split
- Scan the container to split.
- Key the Quantity to split off. It must be less than the container holds.
- Tap Split off {qty}. When Plex answers, the receipt names the new container.
A split needs your Plex user to be mapped by your Mobile Admin. A container on hold cannot be split.
Merge
Plex can't un-merge, so each one waits 10 s for Undo.
- Scan the container to merge into.
- Scan each container to merge in. All of its quantity goes into the first one.
- Each merge waits 10 seconds with Undo. Your next scan sends it at once. Change target picks a different container to merge into.
A merge needs your Plex user to be mapped. Neither container can be on hold.
Master unit
Build a new master unit:
- Scan the containers. The first one sets the part; a container of another part is refused.
- Scan the location, or type it and tap Build with {count}. Scanning the location builds it straight away, and Plex numbers the new master unit.
Add to an existing master unit: scan its label (M and 6 digits) first, then each container. Each is added at once. The undo arrow on a row takes that container off again. Plex will not take a container off a master unit that is on a shipper.
Quality
Holds, releases and scrap are on their own page: Quality holds, release and scrap.
Location count
What Plex expects against what is there.
- Scan the location. The phone loads what Plex says is there.
- Scan each container you find. An expected one beeps OK; an unexpected one gives the refused sound.
- The summary shows how many were found, missing and unexpected, with a list of each.
Move here on an unexpected container moves it to this location in Plex at once. Nothing else is written: the count shows you the differences, and missing containers are only listed. Count another location starts again.
Reprint label
Every reprint is recorded with why.
- Scan the container.
- Under Why reprint? pick Lost, Damaged, Unreadable or Other. Other asks you to say why.
- Tap Reprint.
Plex prints the container label on the printer Plex uses for it. DataMagik records each reprint as a new revision of the label, with who, why and which printer; the original label is revision 1. You can see them on Look up.
Where is
- By location: scan a location label, or type it and search, to list every container there with its part, quantity and status.
- By part: type at least 2 characters of a part number and pick it, or scan a part label. It shows how much is where, with the locations holding the most first and the oldest container first in each. Tap a location to switch to it.
Where is shows active containers only. To look up a single container, use Look up.

| Plex has no container {serial} | Plex does not know that serial. Check the label. |
| Can't reach Plex: you may be offline. Scan again when you're back online. | No signal for a lookup. Lookups need a connection. |
| {serial} is On Hold: release it before it can be split, merged, loaded or packed (nothing changed). | The container is on hold in Plex. Quality must release it first. |
| a split needs your Plex user: ask your Mobile Admin to map it (nothing changed). | Your DataMagik user is not linked to your Plex user yet. The same applies to merges. |
| Plex has no location {loc}, so … was not moved (nothing was written). | Check the location label. |
