Hosted File Gateway

Hosted File GatewayHosted File Gateway
An SFTP and FTPS endpoint DataMagik runs for you. Trading partners and your own systems connect into it and drop files. Each file lands in your own storage, is routed by folder to a handler — EDI, a script, OCR, a lookup load, or plain storage — and every transfer and connection attempt is recorded.
Where to find it
Connectors > File Exchange, on the Partners, Routes and Security tabs.
The gateway no longer has a screen of its own.
It used to live at Extensions > File Gateway. That page, and the separate
File Connectors page, are now one console:
File Exchange. Both old links redirect, so a bookmark still
works — but the nav entries are gone, and the rest of this section names tabs rather than pages.
Nothing about how the gateway behaves changed.
The two halves, and why they share a console
Moving a file has two directions, and DataMagik does both:
| Hosted file gateway | File connector | |
|---|---|---|
| Direction | They dial in to us | We dial out to them |
| Tabs | Partners, Routes, Security | Endpoints |
| Shared | Transfers and Activity list both directions together | |
Because both halves record into the same place, Transfers answers "did that file move?" without you having to know which mechanism carried it. See the overview for when to choose which.
Where to start
- The File Exchange Console — the six tabs and what each one is for.
- Overview — what the gateway is, and how it differs from a connector.
- Connection Details — the host, ports and fingerprints to hand a partner.
- Principals and Logins — create the login they connect as.
- Routes and Handlers — decide what happens to what they send.
