The File Exchange Console

Moving a file has two directions. Either we dial out to a server somebody else runs, or they dial in to a server we run for you. DataMagik does both, and Connectors > File Exchange is where both live.

EndpointsTransfersActivityPartnersRoutesSecurity

Six tabs. Three belong to the gateway, one to the endpoints we dial, and two cover both.

The six tabs

TabWhat it holdsHalf
EndpointsEvery place files move to or from, in all three directions — hosted, remote and on-premise — plus the forms that create and edit the two we dial. See File Connectors. We dial out
TransfersEvery file that actually moved, in either direction, with its handler, status, expiry and source. See the transfers console. Both
ActivityEverything anyone did — including operations that moved nothing, such as a directory listing, and ones that failed. Both
PartnersThe principals that may connect in, and the logins issued to them. See Principals and Logins. They dial in
RoutesThe folder rules that decide what happens to an uploaded file. See Routes and Handlers. They dial in
SecurityCertificate authorities, the server's own identity and rotation, and the connection audit. See Trust and Certificates. They dial in

Above the tabs

Two things sit above the tab bar and stay visible whichever tab you are on.

  • The counters — endpoints, files received and sent in the last 30 days, failures, duplicates, unrouted files, failed logins in the last 24 hours, and total bytes moved.
  • The retention line — how long a received file is kept, which TTL option decides that, and how much of your storage allowance is used. See Retention, Quota and Limits.

On the Endpoints and Partners tabs a third panel appears directly under the tab bar: the connection details a partner needs — host, ports, passive range and the fingerprints they pin.

Where the old pages went

File Exchange replaced two separate screens. Both old links redirect, so existing bookmarks and any setup instructions you have already handed a partner still work.

Why they merged. They were always one capability split by direction, and keeping them apart meant two consoles over the same records — you could not see a file arrive on one screen and be delivered from the other. Transfers and Activity now answer "did that file move?" without you having to know which mechanism carried it.
