Carrier Integration

Plex Carrier Integration

Book carriers, print labels and send tracking back to Plex, from one scan at the dock.

A shipping app for Plex that loads the shipper, packs it into boxes and overpacks, books or rate-shops the carrier through ShipEngine, prints the label to your Zebra printer, and writes the tracking number and freight amount back to the shipper.

What it is

Shipping that starts in Plex and ends in Plex

Scan a shipper number, a container serial or a master unit at the dock, and Carrier Integration loads the shipment straight from Plex: ship-from and ship-to, lines and containers, freight terms and signature required. Nobody retypes an address into a carrier website or a second shipping system.

Rates, labels and tracking run through ShipEngine on your own carrier accounts. When the label prints, the tracking number and freight amount are already on the shipper in Plex.

Packaging

Pack it the way it actually ships

Containers go into master units as overpacks, or ship on their own. Each overpack goes to the carrier as one package with its real weight and dimensions, not as a list of loose serial numbers.

Box sizes come from your Plex container and master unit types. Need a new one? Add it with its weight and dimensions and it is saved to Plex for next time. Overpack weight adds up the tare and every box inside, and the packer can enter the scale weight instead.

Written to Plex as you pack

  • Master units are created, retyped and filled in Plex, so the packing you see is the packing Plex has.
  • New container types keep their weight and dimensions for the next shipment.
  • Freight class for LTL is carried with the package type.

Built for Plex

Everything the dock used to do in three windows

Two ways to ship

Confirm mode books the carrier and service already on the order, locked for the packer. Rate-shop mode compares live rates and books the one the packer picks.

Uses your Plex setup

Plex's integrated shipping services are matched to each carrier's services, and your carrier accounts and customer provider accounts come straight from Plex.

The right account pays

Freight terms decide whether your account, the customer's or a third party is billed, including shippers that carry more than one order.

Parcel and LTL

UPS, FedEx, USPS and the other parcel carriers you connect in ShipEngine, plus freight quotes from your LTL carriers for the loads that go on a truck.

International shipments

Customs lines are built from the shipment, with harmonized codes and country of origin from part attributes, Incoterms, and tax IDs such as EORI and VAT.

Labels on your printers

Print ZPL to the Zebra at the pack station or download a PDF, at 4x6 or letter size, from a desktop browser or the DataMagik mobile app.

Checks before you buy

Problems show up before the label is paid for

Before anything is booked, the shipment is checked: a missing phone number or contact name, a tax ID the destination needs, declared values, and a short shipment against an order marked ship complete. Every warning says why it fired and how to fix it.

Rates that have gone stale are quoted again. Scan the same shipment packed the same way and you get the label you already bought, not a second charge.

Blocks

Stop the booking until the problem is fixed, such as no rate chosen in rate-shop mode.

Warnings

Let the packer go ahead knowingly, such as shipping less than a ship-complete order.

Notes

Explain a choice made automatically, such as which freight account was billed.

Set up once

Your carriers, your rules, your Plex

You connect your own ShipEngine account and carrier accounts. The API key is stored as a DataMagik credential on the server, never in the browser. Shipping profiles set the mode, label format and insurance, and can be tied to a customer, a ship via, a building or a whole PCN.

DataMagik checks which Plex data sources your web-service login can reach before you start, and never changes a shipper Plex has already shipped.

Ship from Plex without the extra screens

Scan, pack, book and print at the dock, with tracking and freight back in Plex before the box is on the truck.
